My name is Daniel Maddocks and I am a retained firefighter for the Isle of Man fire and rescue service, based at Ramsey fire station.

In January I was due to be going to Manchester to do the hyrox event on the 22nd but the organisers put a stop to my full kit only pants and jacket were allowed so I will be doing the event in full fire kit locally at the unit gym in Ramsey on February the 8th at 10:30 am the full kit will be including a breathing apparatus set and cylinder but not under air, fire jacket and pants, helmet and fire boots.

For those that don’t know about hyrox the event will consist of.

* 1 kilometer of running into

* 1 kilometer of SkiErg

* 1 kilometer of running into

* 50 meters of sled push 152kg

* 1 kilometer of running into

* 50 meters of sled pull 103kg

* 1 kilometer of running into

* 80 meters of burpee broad jumps

* 1 kilometer of running into

* 1 kilometer of rowing

* 1 kilometer of running into

* 200 meters of kettlebell farmer carry 2x24kg

* 1 kilometer of running into

* 100 meters of sandbag walking lunge 10kg

* 1 kilometer of running into

* 100 wall balls 6kg

I will be raising money for two charities.

The firefighters charity.

We’re the UK fire family’s charity, providing timely clinical care and wellbeing support to members of the UK’s fire services and their families, helping them to adapt to physical, emotional and social challenges, to adapt to conditions, injuries and illness, and to transition to life after service.

I am also hoping to surpass my fundraising target so I can also send some funds to

The great north air ambulance.
