In August 2017, I will be travelling to South Africa to work with the Goedgedacht Trust for one week as part of a scheme run by Cowbridge Comprehensive School for numberous years to encourage global citizenship.

The Goedgacht Trust aims to improve the lives of underprivileged children in rural parts of South Africa. These children may have been abandoned, abused or neglected due to alcohol abuse. In South Africa it's very difficult to stop te never ending cycle of alcohol abuse as many jobs used alcohol as payment and since the abuse of alcohol has become ingrained in thier culture.

So my aim is to build the confidence of these children, by bringing happiness to their lives. And removing them the the alcohol abuse cycle. I would also like to educate the children from a young age the dangers of alcohol, this is a project that is vital yet relies on the work of educated volunteers.

I am trying to fundraise for the cost of this trip and any excess money fundraised will be donated to the trust. The Goedgedacht trust is an expanding organisation in South Africa so it is important that the trust gets the funds it requires to maintain this high level of expansion, and also to maintain their great care of their children.
