Story
KENILWORTH SOCCER 8s IS BACK AND WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT!!
In 2017, Riccardo Scimeca and myself held our first Kenilworth Soccer 8s tournament in loving memory of Daniel Smith, an incredible young man (whose story is below)! Due to its success, we gave £1,834.26 directly to an amazing young lady called Beth Semikin who used the funds to visit a friend in Australia. Just like Daniel, Beth is a real inspiration and we were delighted to help her. In 2018, to help keep Daniel’s memory alive and to continue to help young individuals, we held the Kenilworth Soccer 8s which helped us raise over £7,000 which helped more incredible young individuals due to your generosity!
Therefore, building on it’s great success, KENILWORTH SOCCER 8s 2019 will be held from 1pm on SATURDAY 14th SEPTEMBER, 2019, to help more young and positive individuals through a very tough time with cancer! The individuals will be announced after the tournament and all proceeds will go directly to them. The squads have already been confirmed so please do not turn up expecting to play unless you have already been asked. It's an over 35s tournament and will be played in the greatest spirit as always.
It will be a fun afternoon for family and friends. This year there will be activities for the kids such as multi sports events and games, cross bar challenge, bouncy castle, face painters, stalls providing cakes, sweets and a tombola. There will also be an outdoor bar for the adults – so please get the family involved! Your support and donations will make a huge difference!
If you or anyone you know would like to help provide some prizes for the raffle / auction or maybe even set up a small stand for a few hours on the day, please get in touch with me or Riccardo directly OR via the Contact Carl Smith in the About Fundraiser link right at the bottom of this page.
After the tournament finishes (from 5.30pm), we will be heading straight to The Royal Oak, Kenilworth, for some bbq food and refreshments. There will also be a raffle / auction to help raise more funds for these brave, young individuals so please come along and show your support!
Thank You so much! Carl Smith x

In loving memory of DANIEL SMITH (Dan The Man): On February 4th, 2016, our youngest brother, Daniel Smith, 24, a fit and strong young man with his life ahead of him became ill with stomach pains whilst driving home from work and ended up at the nearest hospital. Soon after, Dan was diagnosed with a rare and very aggressive cancer called a sarcoma.
Once transferred and under the care of a brilliant surgeon and team at the Royal Free, Dan had a huge operation to remove a large tumour along with his stomach, spleen and 3/4 of his pancreas. Early scans were very encouraging and Dan was showing incredible strength on his way towards recovery, however, a later scan showed it was back and very aggressive. Tragically, after trying everything possible, Dan passed away on April 19th, 2016.
Dan is the bravest person we have ever known. He loved life, was extremely funny and brightened up everyone's day. Everyone loved him. We're so proud of him and will never forget him. It's great to know that his legacy carries on and he's still able to help young people like himself.
