We are a non profit making organisation called Shatter Boys UK. I started my group to support Male survivors of child sexual abuse. We now have support groups in the Manchester and Liverpool areas where survivors of sexual abuse can come and share their stories, we also meet up for social events. We have a wide range of support from other survivors and professionals in a range of specialised fields that offer help: so there is always some one on hand to talk to either to share your experience or just to have a friendly chat.
We are hoping to start support groups in a number of other areas including rural areas as we are aware support in these areas for many causes can be limited. On the 24th June we are having a get together in Morecambe, encouraging people from all the surrounding rural areas to come and join in. It does not matter if you are a survivor or somebody who wants to help, we welcome all. Our message is that any survivor is not alone and that you do not have to suffer in silence. We are making it easier for victims to come forward and tell their stories and whether you have never spoken to anyone before, have successfully convicted your abuser or have been a victim of a failed court case and your abuser has walked free, we are here to help the best we can. Between our members we now have a wide range of skills, we are also supporting professional bodies to make change in the way cases for victims are handled from the initial first disclosure to police through to the court system. Things have to change we say 'no more' we are not been abused by abusers any more, we are not been bullied into a shroud of silence so they get away with their crimes. Any money kindly donated, will be used for costs to fund meetings to raise awareness for sexual abuse victims and fund meeting places for survivors, We share our stories with the police and child protection agencies to help them move forward and improve their work.
