Story

My friends were expecting a healthy baby girl and like all new parents they were extremely excited and happy to welcome the new arrival to the family.

Summer was born on the 14th December at 12.07pm, weighing 8lbs 4oz. This was one day before her due date so not premature.

Unknown to them things would all take a turn for the worse when the midwife came in to do summers hearing test on the Saturday morning she realised that the oxygen saturations were not quite right and got another Dr to have a look. Further tests were done and they decided to transfer to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow to a cardiologist.

The cardiologist done the relevant tests and check ups required and revealed summer had Supracardiac total anomalous pulmonary venous drainage (TAPDV) and would require open heart surgery.

Brian and Amanda have been stuck staying in accommodation at the hospital since the 15th December. Brian unable to work and Amanda on maternity pay it's all been even stressful to ensure money is in the bank for bills.

This page is set up to help get a little bit of money together to help them out a little and relieve some stress

They have been there for almost 5 weeks now and are looking to be roughly another 4 weeks before getting home as there have been a few post op complications

I've added in to this the description of the condition Summer has

Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Drainage TAPVD
The Pulmonary Veins, which carry blood back to the heart after it has circulated through the lungs, are not connected to the left atrium. Instead they are connected to one of the veins from the main circulation so that the blood returning from the lungs drains back to the right side of the heart. In the example illustrated here all the pulmonary veins are connected to the Superior Vena Cava (SVC). This is referred to as 'Supracardiac' TAPVD
