In 2005 I was wrongfully convicted of Drug offences. I spent almost a year in prison awaiting my appeal, which I won. While in prison I became firm friends with a number of the women who had very hard lives on the outside due to their drug addictions. These women spoke to me about their reasons for initially turning to drugs and also why they were sure to return to drugs when they left prison even though they were now clean of any drugs in their system. The women said that
1. The hostels they were moved to were not conducive to rehabilitation.
2. Little or no support network for those not going into rehab.
3. Their personal prospects were very low by way of lack of education or low self-esteem.
Since then I have been trying to think of a solution which is going to benefit both the individual and society on the whole.
Please help me to try to make a small difference to a big problem.
