Hi my name is Danielle I'm a student nurse currently starting in my second year at Hull University. Nursing has been a passion of mine since I was a small child and eventually following in my mothers footsteps I started my nurse training in September 2015. I am currently juggling studying my degree whilst also raising my 3 young daughters.

I have been given an amazing opportunity to take part in a 2 week placement next year in Uganda as part of my current training. To me this is an opportunity of a lifetime and an experience I know I will never forget. I would get the opportunity to gain hands on experience in a medical care setting, whilst learning first hand about the challenges facing Ugandas healthcare system.

As a student nurse in the U.K. my training is fully supported by the NHS and I am kept safe to beable to deliver the best care within the limits of my competency. The NHS provides patients with the best care treatment for free and this gets taken for granted every day.
By taking part in this opportunity I will gain a whole new insight to a different healthcare system, and it will give me the chance to live among a population urgently requiring help.
By volunteering for 2 weeks I will hope to make a positive impact on a community in great need, and I know it will make a big impact on my life as being something I can look back on with pride and gain a greater understanding of compassion for humanity.
This experience would be beneficial to me, as it would broaden my views of the world, and help me to engage with different cultures and their healthcare settings. Although I am under no illusion this will be easy I feel it's an eye opener and will set the stride for my future nursing career.

My target is to raise £2000 to cover all costs and to also take out much needed supplies. Anything anyone can donate no matter how small will be much appreciated.
