On 3rd October I will be attempting the London Marathon, after 7 years of trying I finally got a place!

Even though it’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time I couldn’t get excited about it at the time as on the same day in February that I found out I had a place we received the devastating news that the lovely Sally Cornes had lost her battle with cancer, she had been fighting Ewing Sarcoma (a rare type of bone cancer that most commonly affects teenagers and young people) since 2017.

Sally & my daughter Marcie were best friends they became inseparable at primary school they also went to Guides and gymnastics together & shared a love of dancing amongst many other things. Their friendship brought their sisters Milly & Amelie together too and the four girls became the best of friends. They made some lovely memories together on sleepovers, on Guides weekends, on holiday in Cornwall, camping in the garden, parties for birthdays or New Year or just messing about making TikToks and making each other laugh. My girls as we all are, are devastated to have lost Sally they loved her so much; she was such a happy, fun-loving, mischievous, funny, strong, courageous, inspiring friend that they were so lucky to have had her in their lives and they will never forget that. Everyone who knew Sally will always remember her smile, you very rarely saw her without it no matter what she was going through.

Sally’s family have created a charity in memory of her The @Sallycancer Foundation to help other families that may be going through something as devastating as they did and still are, and also to support the various organisations they came in to contact with throughout Sally’s battle. This is my small attempt at supporting them & am hoping to raise as much money as I can to support what is going to be an amazing charity. Any donations will be greatly appreciated in memory of the very special & sorely missed Sally Cornes xx
