Story
As some of you are already aware, my sister and myself are travelling to Swaziland in October 2017. As a teacher working in the Early Years it is too easy to forget how lucky and blessed our children are.
Two-thirds of Swazis live in poverty, most of them in rural areas. Nearly 40 per cent are HIV-positive, giving Swaziland the highest HIV prevalence rate in the world. This means that nearly 125,000 Swazi children have lost at least one parent to HIV. Already, over 15,000 households in the country are headed by children who raise their younger brothers and sisters by themselves.
LaSalette, who we will be staying with, is an incredible woman who has built 9 care point centres across Swaziland providing food, water and education to these children. She feeds over 2000 children a DAY and no child is ever turned away.
It costs just £4 to feed and educate a child for a WHOLE month! That's less than a glass of wine or a pint of beer!
We are raising money to provide education and care as well as buy resources while we are out there.
Thank you in advance for your kindness to this amazing cause...
