Story

As some of you may know, I have been through quite a lot recently. Some of which I’ve carried for many years.

Last month things came to ahead where I tried to take my own life. It was not fun and I am not pround of it. However, after coming through and finding a local support group, I have changed my views on life and how I fit into it.

I‘ve joined a gym, trying to keep active and enjoy my life. As a truck driver, its hard to stay fit. I found another group on facebook called ‘Truckers Who Run’ these guys gave me the info and encouragement to get out and get fit, fit for life. Its greatly helped my state of mind also. Gives me something to do and look forward to doing.

Now, without the knowledge of having a local support group, with lots of help and advice on how to deal with daily tasks then I would not have thought about joining a gym, let alone a dedicated group on facebook.

New Beginnings are a mental health support group, ran in Mold & Saltney. Just knowing these guys are there for me has greatly improved my confidence and outlook on life.

This is why I would like to raise as much money as i can for them, they are a small group who are self funded. I’d just like to give something back to them so they can continue to help others who have been in my situation.

On 22/04/18 I will be taking on the challenge of a Yorkshire 3 Peaks walk. The expedition is approx 40km and is estimated to take me around 12/13 hours. This is a huge challenge for myself, although I hope it will also help me with a couple of anxiety issues. Stepping out of my comfort zone and mingling with strangers to name a few.

Any monies raised will go straight to New Beginnings so they can continue their cause and help other local people like myself.

Thank you xx
