Story

Most people are aware, but some may not be, that my daughter Daniella was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in September 2019. The Type 1 Warriors group was recommended by Daniellas nurse before she was even discharged from hospital. I joined straight away, and since then there has alway been someone to answer any questions and give any support whenever it has been needed.

We were invited to the pantomime with the group at christmas time and it was great to go along, meet some of the other parents who are fighting the same constant battle day in, day out, and let Daniella meet some other kids who were also T1. The group wants to keep doing more of this type of thing for all the kids but they need more funding to do so, thats where I’m stepping in to help out and see what I can do.

Everyone who knows me knows that I love running, I had a hip replacement over 10 years ago and started running again 3 years ago. I normally run 10k most of the time, i done my first half marathon last year and was due to run an 18km in September this year (postponed due to the pandemic) I’ve never done a challenge like this and I’ve never really fundraised for such a local cause either so please donate if you can.

I’m doing the Yeti Challenge, running 5 miles every 4 hours for 24 hours, totalling 30 miles. My challenge date will be 9th August, I’ll be starting at 4am.
