I've raised £4000 to for the Steve Waugh Foundation

On 29th October 2018 I will set out on the Captain's ride, a charity cycle ride from Melbourne, Australia covering some 800kms and 12Km of vertical ascents over 6 days .
The journey starts In Healsville just outside Melbourne and ends in Aldbury and I will be part of a 125 man team including Daley Thompson, Anna Mears and The Captain - Steve Waugh. The Captain's Ride is the brainchild of Steve Waugh (Ex Australian Cricket Captain) and all the proceeds go to the Steve Waugh Foundation https://www.stevewaughfoundation.com.au/the-captains-ride/ (More detail below).
I have be been training 5 times a week for 3 months so I can survive this ride. I thank you for all your support in advance and appreciate every donation towards this fantastic cause. All monies raised go to the Steve Waugh Foundation. The fundraising does not pay my airfare to Australia and it does not pay my entry fee to the Ride. This is not a sponsored holiday!
The Foundation exists to champion the stories, provide life-changing support and improve the quality of life for children and young adults (0‐25) living with a rare disease. I’m seeking your support, small or large, which will help to make a big difference to the lives of these courageous kids.
1 in 10 Australians are affected by a rare disease, over 400,000 are children. Many young adults and families with children challenged by a rare disease feel isolated. A major motivation behind our Foundation is that no one should have to stand alone; everyone needs a team to support them. We are ‘somewhere to turn’.
Generous donations will go directly to life-changing Individual Grants for medicine, specialised equipment, treatment and items that improve the quality of life for a child affected by a rare disease, as well as Respite Retreats for the whole family, and research. The only Foundation of our kind in Australia, we are there for the children and families who face the challenges of a rare disease with ‘strength of character’ every day. Our focus is their well-being and the difference we can make to their lives.
Please note I am using a crowdfunding site not a regular just giving account because the charity is overseas and thus cannot use the regular site. The Australian equivalent site charges crazy currency transfer fees so this is the most cost effective way of managing the donations.
