Story

Our beautiful Danny sadly took his own life aged only 18 in October last year. Danny was bright and accomplished so much at a young age. He achieved a Merit for his grade 8 guitar, played piano beautifully and attained 5 As in his high school exams. He was an avid reader, with a real love for films (especially any that starred Keanu Reeves) and he always knew how to tell a great story. He loved music and his last concert was seeing The Script at Edinburgh Castle last summer.

Mental health can be the cause of so much suffering. As pure-hearted a boy as Danny was, it is unfair that his life was cut so short because of this affliction. Our goal is to soon set up a charity in Danny's name which will be known as the Danny Hashim Mental Health Foundation. This is currently in the process of being established with the help of the Scottish Government. Until this is set up, we would like to support Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS).

In honour of Danny, his sister Tania's colleagues Jim & Iain will be doing a sponsored walk on The West Highland Way from Thursday 8th June 2023 to Monday 12th June 2023. This is a linear long-distance route in Scotland. It is 154 km long, running from Milngavie north of Glasgow to Fort William in the Scottish Highlands, with an element of hill walking in the route.

The donations will go directly to CAMHS which is a charity we are all passionate about. Their aims are to 'support the emotional wellbeing of children by ensuring their mental health needs are recognised and addressed at the earliest opportunity in the community.'

Danny always lit up any room he was in - now it's our turn to do something positive in his memory. Please help us to fulfil Danny's legacy and bring this cause the attention it deserves.
