Story
My brother, Archie and I (Darcey) are volunteering as part of the International Service Team (IST) for the World Scout Jamboree in West Virginia, USA. This is the largest event in Scouting. The last World Scout Jamboree in Japan was attended by 33,628 Scouts and leaders including 7,979 International Service Team volunteers who helped run the event. These are big events and we have to fundraise £2,995 each to go.
As people who have been in Scouting for a great deal of our lives, we have been on camps and trips and seen the hard work and dedication of our Scout leaders. They have made these incredible opportunities that we and other Scouts have experienced possible. At the Jamboree I will be working with a group of people interested in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and design, and Mathematics) to explain and run activities relating to the development of 21st century transportation. Archie will be working to help run the Traditional highland games on Mt Jack. This is an opportunity for us to give back to the World Scouting movement in a truly momentous way.
To make this trip possible we ask you to please leave a donation for our Scouting adventure, even a small one. The Scouting movement wouldn’t be possible without lots of people doing their small part to make incredible events like the World Scout Jamboree possible. As part of our fundraising we are embarking on a 100 mile walk from home in Ramsgate, Kent to the US Embassy in London. We hope to raise money from this five day expedition alongside tombolas, boot fairs and a quiz night but any donations will bring us a step closer to our goal.
Thank you for your support.
