Weʼve raised £346 to fund a hand cycle and a sports wheelchair. I want to be able to do badminton, karate and cycle to work. Access to property is now sorted.

    Story

For the last ten years I suffered with headaches. This progressed into my neck and left arm to my left hand. Pain was always the common factor.

In 2015, I was formally diagnosed with Chronic Regionals Pain Syndrome. The following months meant pain moving into my left hip and by October I was wheelchair bound.

For a year now I have been managing to fund my various wheelchairs and keep myself going. I work part time and studying for my masters in Applied Computing but the money doesn't stretch that far.

I want to spend more time outside and down the beach. I want to cycle to work and stay as independent as possible but all this speciality equipment comes with a large price tag.

I am past the self pity stage of my illness and fighting back. I am at the gym twice a week building up my arms so I can stay in a manual chair as long as long as possible. Eventually I will need an electric wheelchair but I will hold off as long as possible.

I am a fighter and I will keep fighting this for as long as I can. I will finance my living expenses. It is not fair for me to seek help with my day to day expenses.

£400 will finance a "free wheel" attachment which makes off road walks possible.

£1500 will finance a hand cycle to use to get to work and back in the warmer weather.

£2500 will finance a hybrid wheelchair attachement that allows my to use my wheelchair as a hand cycle or electric.

Anything more would help work with Hampshire County Council to change the access to my home so that it is wheelchair friendly and easy to access my car. I am still waiting for a quote for this.

I live with constant pain and have to take large amounts of medication to combat the pain but if I take more, the less I can do on my own. I want to be self sufficient .

I am keen to try wheelchair badminton and karate. All these require specialist equipment that is currently out of my reach. I may not get much support but I need to tell my story and ask for help.

Day 87: well apparently this finishes tomorrow. The. About a week for the funds to be transferred and then I can order the free wheel. So excited. Also just brought a dog walking attachment that goes on the wheelchair so can take the dog out with the chair. It's on prime delivery so will be walking the dog everyday which will add to my routine and get me out the house. A new friend who wants to do walks down he beach so another route and a friend miles away waiting for me to come say hello. Might arrange a break away as a reward

Day 86: sleeping keeps getting better and energy levels continue to increase. Work again this morning then home to work from there. Only a few days left of this to go and then I will have he freewheel. I didn't get what I wanted but absolutely got what I needed. Once it gets lighter in the morning I will be doing an outing like jogging in a chair. Get the blood pumping and get it an important start to my day

Day 85: so had my letter from donating blood and I am group A- and share it with 6% of the population. It is important for me to share my blood to help those who need it when they need it. Plus put a few away incase I need it lol. I know it doesnt work like that. Will be going back for donation 2 in march. Feel proud of myself. Also my disabled bay was put in today. Line painting needs doing but the dropped curb will make my life so much simpler. Back to work tomorrow for another morning in the office. Energy levels seem to be going up
