Story

Daswandh is a community in Patiala, (India) initiated by our Naujavan (youths) Taranjeet Singh, Mandeep Singh and Gagandeep Singh. All of which are involved in this seva (selfless service) as a result of been directly or indirectly affected by a terminal diagnosis.

The mission of the community is to help those that have been diagnosed with a terminal illness and support those fighting for their life. Our growing and ageing population signifies there are an increasing number of people living with terminal illness of which may include Cancer, heart failure, Dementia to name a few and we aim to support those families after a terminal diagnosis is given.

62 people suffering from terminal illness kill themselves daily in India (TOI, 2018). Our aim is to crackdown on this and be there to help and support families and others affected by a diagnosis to achieve the best quality of life for as long as possible.

Help can be given in many ways whether that be in the financial form to help with children’s school fees of the diagnosed or contributions of household goods and ration. We serve those affected with emotional support when they need it most. Hospital fees, cost of treatment, medicines and therapies are covered by the community using the generous donations received from the Sangat (Public).

Recognise the human race as one. (Guru Gobind Singh Ji, Sikh Principle)

This is a Sikh principal widely adopted by many organisations around the world. We would like to echo these very words and encourage people from all walks of life to support this community in providing help to those affected by a terminal diagnosis.

Benti (Request) for all Sangat to help with this amazing seva (selfless service) and to share the mission of this community to all friends and family. We welcome donations of all kind and if you’d like to help or get involved please get in touch. Every penny counts even if it’s just £1. “No act of kindness is too small”. Your Daswandh can make a real difference.
