Story
For the past 20 years, Datchworth village has had a very successful 'Open Gardens' event in late May, usually every other year. Between 10 and 15 Gardens are open around the village and visitors come from near and far. We arrange a bus service too help those less mobile to get from one end of the village to the other. There are a variety of entertainments at the church and of course plenty of refreshments! We usually raise between £5k and £10k for the village churc , All Saints and at least one other charity. This year that was to be the local Datchworth primary school in its 200 year celebration! A percentage also goes to The British Red Cross.
Sadly this years event has had to be cancelled as a result of the Covid outbreak, so instead we are having a 'Virtual Open Gardens'! Thank you for visiting the site and I hope that you feel you can donate to help support these worthy causes. If you have not yet seen them, the virtual gardens booklets are available for viewing on the datchworth.com website from today the 13th June!
Remember there are also 4 wonderful paintings by Celia Sanders, a talented painter and one of the our gardeners. They can be viewed on the same website and bids put in by email!
