Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

Dave is 31 years old, and has recently had his full right leg amputated. For most of us losing a leg would have a massive detrimental impact on our quality of life, but for Dave it was the only way to get his life back.
Over 3 years ago Dave was diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) following a knee reconstruction procedure. CRPS is a very rare condition that usually develops after an injury to an arm or leg, with the primary symptom being severe, prolonged pain in the affected area. When it persists beyond 6-8 months it usually develops into a lifelong chronic debilitating condition, with the only prescribed treatment being a daily cocktail of high-strength pain killers (in Dave’s case this was 54 pills every day).
For Dave, amputation was the only way forward and he had this life-changing surgery in July. Now Dave's battle really starts, and the cost of a prosthetic leg and other specialist equipment is expected to run into tens of thousands of pounds. Dave’s friends and family have rallied round to help him rise to this massive challenge, and to date around £4,000 has been raised.
Although Dave faces a very tough road ahead he is determined to see this through so that he can once again do the things that dads do with his two young children, and eventually walk down the aisle with his bride to be, Katie.
