Story
Sinus cancer
On Friday 7th July we received the devastating news that not only was the lump on Dave's eye cancer it had eaten to the bones around his eye and into his eye. The operation would involve him loosing his right eye, the bone around it, part of his forehead bone and the bridge of his nose, some skin was attached to the tumour so that would have to go too.
QMC wanted to move quickly before the tumour attached to his other eye as well. So less than a week later Thursday 13th July Dave went in for the operation that would change his and my life forever.
We have lots of wonderful friends offering to help in any way but realistically the best way to help over the next 3 months or so is to help us with the cost of living, and travelling. When he is out of hospital Dave has to return virtually every week for a few weeks and then every day for 6 weeks this means I can't go back to work until the majority of his treatment is over.
Dave has an incredibly long and hard journey ahead of him, with treatment reconstruction and prosthetics to look forward to. Even after all this he has been told that he will not be able to do the jobs he has done all his life and may have to train to find completely different work a couple of years down the line.
All we are asking for is a small donation to help us get through the initial part of this long journey dealing with a very rare cancer and its repercussions.

7 years agoJust a quick update to let everyone know how Dave is doing. Dave looks like he is doing very well however he gets very tired after doing the most simple things and Dave being Dave pushes himself very hard. There ares Still appointments with consultants and psychiatrists in the near future and reconstruction and prosthetics further down the line. Dave is still fighting but finding it quite hard. Thank you once again for all your support.

7 years agoDave finished his radiotherapy last Saturday to be told the side effects of it would get worse for the next 2 weeks, and they have. His skin continues to burn and the skin graft has actually blistered and burst, his hair has virtually all fallen out in a ring around his head, luckily not on top and he continues to try to fight constant pain and fatigue. We are hoping that after this week he will start to feel a bit better and gradually get off the pain killers Visits from friends have slowed down but it is such a lift for him, so please visit.

7 years agoToday was the 25th radiotherapy session and it was the worst one yet. Dave could feel it burning his skin, he said he could smell it burning. I have never seen such a strong man in such pain, it really hurts me to watch him. We have been given even stronger pain killers and hope they kick in before tomorrows session. This is the hardest fight of his life. Thank you once again for your support.
