Story

Peter is a young Pastor and farmer in Isiolo, Kenya. Each year the orphans in his congregation rely on his cattle and crops for survival through the rainy season from October through to February/March.

This year, raiders from a nearby settlement came to their village and stole cattle and large parts of their stores for the coming months. In addition to this loss, this part of Kenya has suffered a drought over the last 2 years - dryer than normal dry seasons followed by shorter time of rain than expected. This has resulted in many of the cattle saved from the poachers dying.

The women of the village make charcoal to try to raise money for buying maize and maize-meal, a staple food source for the village, and milk as a source of protein for the children.

When possible, the church Peter runs provides food for their orphans. These children are drinking a form of porridge with maize in it as that is all the food available.

They meet under a tree for lessons and church since a previous attack resulted in their old church structure (below) being burned down

Here are some of the orphans:

Regina Kuya, age 5.

Francis Loote, 6

Regina Adong'a age 3

There are too many to show all their photos. Please help them.
