Story
Fyling Hall is a small private school on the outskirts of Robin Hoods Bay. The school was established by Mrs Mab Bradley whose ethos was that every child deserved an education. She began the school in 1923 with just a small group of children in her private home, which is now Known as ‘Fyling Hall‘.It has been a school ever since, where her daughter, Mrs Claire White became headmistress. Unfortunately, Mrs White sadly passed away in the Peregrine nursing home on the 8th March 2023 aged 94 before seeing in the schools centenery celebrations in July.
Every year the schools Sixth formers carry out fundraising events for a chosen charity, from cake stalls, halloween events, head shaving, to name but a few. This year, they have chosen the mental health charity ‘Young Minds’
The school is lucky enough to have 8 horses where i have helped Coleen since 2017 develop the stables, to which the council has awarded us a 5* establishment rating.. The school now hosts 70 children who attend the stables for riding lessons, stable management, lunging lessons and many other equine needs.
My aim is to complete a fundraising charity bike ride, from Fyling Hall school right over to the West coast and back again non stop in 24 hrs on Thursday 25th May 2023. This is approx 300 miles. The money raised would be divided between Peregrine House, which cared for Mrs White over her last few days. The sixth formers charity ‘Young Minds’ and also some much needed equipment for the stables to further the equine education for the children.
