I've raised £2000 to help find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes

Westdyke Community Club is a Scottish Football Association QUALITY MARK Club. The first in the North Region to attain Community Status and also the first to attain Legacy Status.
One of our players, Adam Cowie, from the 2007 Thistle squad, has type 1 diabetes. His brother, Callum, is in the 2009 squad, and his Dad, Dave, is a Coach with the Club. We thought it would be a great idea for the boys and girls in the Development Squads, (who don't yet play competitive matches) to get together and take part in a fun, sporting event, where we can work together with players from other age groups, and raise money at the same time for two great causes. All money raised will be split 50/50 between Westdyke Community Club and JDRF.
Westdyke strive to be more than 'just' a Football Club. We want to teach our boys and girls that we can help others, while at the same time strengthening the bond amongst themselves and their team mates, and their friends in other squads. Our ethos is 'One Club'. We would love to see as many players, coaches, parents, family members and friends come along on the day!
Over 200 players (5 years old to 11 years old) coaches and supporters will take part in the upcoming JDRF One Fun Run being held at Lochter Activity Park, Oldmeldrum on Sunday 9th September. This will see them conquer a 2km obstacle course, through mud, water and paint bombs.
Type 1 Diabetes impacts over 400,000 people in the UK, with over 29,000 of these sufferers being 16yrs or under. Type 1 Diabetes directly impacts players, coaches and families within the Westdyke family and we want to do what we can to support our team mates.
The funds raised will be split equally between Westdyke Community Club and JDRF.
Thank you so much for your support!
