Story
In September 2014 Davids dear wife was diagnosed with inoperable throat cancer and was told she had only 6 months to live.
Rebeca received outstanding treatment at the Churchill hospital which extended her life to more than two years.
Throughout Rebecas treatment there was a need to call the triage ward, one of the benefactors of this fund raising. The ward operates 24/7 and while you under stress and feeling very alone they are available on the end of the phone for any questions or emergencies that can occur, a rise in temperatures is one thing that you have to look out for while undergoing chemotherapy because it means there may be an infection.
While in the triage ward the care given by everyone was truly amazing and goes far beyond their job title. David would like to say thank you to everybody that touched his life throughout such a difficult time.
Sadly Rebeca passed away on 24th November 2016 in the company of family and friends.
The quilt as pictured above, has been made from fabrics donated by Freelance Fabrics Kidlington, Davids shop, and put together by 10 local ladies. The quilt is now available as a raffle prize, with tickets available at £1 each from Freelance Fabrics. The quilt will be on display in Barclays Bank Kidlington from Friday 16th June, where it will stay for two weeks. The staff behind the counter will be selling raffle tickets as well for at least a week. If £1000 can be raised, Barclays have kindly offered to match it with a £1000 gift aid donation. After this, David, staff and friends will be taking the quilt to the Churchill front foyer where, with a team from the Maggies Centre (the other benefactor in this fund raising), they will be selling further raffle tickets, please check back for confirmed dates.
If you'd prefer to just make a donation to Maggies Centre Oxford and The Triage Ward, please use this page.
David would like to thank you for taking the time to read this page.
