    What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

For many years from as far back as I can remember as a child, we were always brought up to love animals and especially dogs.

My uncle used to train dogs for police service and my cousin was a veterinary surgeon.

Our love of dogs and the courage, devotion, loyalty and determination shown by our K-9 comrades under extreme pressure in their every day line of work has not just brought criminals to justice but have saved peoples lives, brought companionship to others and much love and an unbreakable bond between pet and owner.

Due to being a dog lover myself, I feel it would be a real honour to show support towards our K-9 friends and offer these amazing working dogs the support they well and truly deserve by setting up this crowd funding page. Even by offering our K-9 comrades the smallest amount of donations means so much to me and will definitely be fully appreciated by them too. Giving something back to such amazing working K-9s will be really appreciated and shows our gratitude towards there amazing everyday work.

If you truly could see yourself offering a small token towards there work, even if it was just a pound would really be so much appreciated. Thank you.

There are a number of different types of working dogs specially trained to do jobs.

Police dogs, also sometimes called K9 Units, are usually trained to track or immobilize possible criminals while assisting officers in making arrests or investigating the scene of a crime. Some are even specially trained for anti-terrorist units.

Police dogs, generally called K-9s, are trained specifically to assist police and other law-enforcement personnel in the line of duty  Police dogs protect their handlers. They can chase down and hold criminal suspects who try to run from police. In some cases, K-9s might be trained to sniff out substances, but those dogs can also be categorized as detection dogs.

Detection dogs have exceptional senses of smell. A detection dog is trained to sniff out a particular substance or group of substances. Common types of substances to be 'sniffed out' include illegal drugs, explosives, blood, and more. Some detection dogs even learn to detect cancer, certain types of insects or animal faeces!

Similar to police dogs, military working dogs assist members of the military with their operations. These dogs may be used as detectors, trackers, sentries, scouts, and for search and rescue.

Search and rescue dogs have great agility and exceptional senses of smell and hearing. These highly trained animals serve in many different fields, including tracking, specialist search, avalanche rescue, and cadaver location.

Service dogs are working dogs that have been specially trained to assist persons with disabilities. The ADA has special guidelines regarding service dogs and their treatment in public places. Some examples of service dogs include guide dogs for the blind, mobility assistance dogs, seizure alert dogs and more.

Animal Assisted Therapy involves the use of trained, certified animals as part of a medical patient's therapeutic plan. These therapy dogs offer emotional support to sick or injured persons, often visiting hospitals and nursing homes.
