Why the Garden Matters

For the past three years, volunteer gardeners have worked tirelessly to recreate a beautiful green space just yards from the hustle and bustle of St Albans city centre.

The results have been spectacular. Their work is enhancing the local environment and creating a welcoming city centre garden where residents, visitors and the wider community can gather, pause and relax.

And 2027 will be the centenary of the Civic Rose Garden.

What the Funding Will Support

Later this year, the team wants to carry out work on the two remaining beds. The funding will allow the team to buy the necessary plants and materials to bring colour, biodiversity, structure and interest to these areas throughout the seasons.

The remaining dead box will be removed, most of the existing geraniums and catmint plants will be retained and appropriate plants will be purchased, and additional turf will be laid to realign the beds.
