Room 14 Duke of Edinburgh's is an Open Duke of Edinburgh's Award Centre managed by Pelton Youth Project and Pelton Community Association. We support young people from across County Durham in achieving their Bronze, Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Awards.

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is much more than a qualification. It helps young people develop confidence, resilience, teamwork, communication skills and independence, while also strengthening university, college and employment applications.

As participation continues to grow, we are now supporting more than 50 young people on their DofE journeys, with new participants joining every year.

Why We Need Your Help

We are aiming to raise £1,000 to help fund the Expedition Section of the Award.

For many participants, the expedition is the most challenging and rewarding part of their DofE journey. It gives young people the opportunity to step outside their comfort zones, explore the outdoors and put their skills into practice in real-life situations.

During their expeditions, young people learn to:

Work effectively as part of a team

Build confidence, resilience and determination

Develop independence and responsibility

Improve navigation and map-reading skills

Learn camping and outdoor survival techniques

Organise and carry their own food, water and equipment

For many young people, these experiences are truly life-changing. The skills, confidence and sense of achievement they gain stay with them long after the expedition ends, helping prepare them for future education, employment and life's challenges.
