My best friend Jon and the rest of his family had it all to deal with when in December 2011 his son Evan at the age of 4 was diagnosed with Leukaemia, which as you could imagine was devastating for the whole family.
Following many months in hospital and with the grit and determination to knock this cruel cancer into touch Evan was making progress. In May 2012 he was well enough to have a bone marrow transplant and the road to recovery looked insight. Following many more visits to the hospital he started getting better and a normal life for all the family was beginning to return.
Over the next 4 years all regular check ups had been positive and Evan has returned to school and some sort of normality, until just recently when he was hospitalised for a chest infection.
Following some tests the family got the news that they thought they would never hear again, Evans leukaemia had returned for a second time.
As I write this Evan will be at the hospital having a line put into his heart so the treatment can start again.

No child should have to deal with fighting Cancer and I cannot imagine what it must be like knowing at the age of 9 you've got to do it all again. One thing that shines through each time I see Evan is his big smile and inner strength that will guide him through this battle with the help of all his family.

Onto the challenge
After that short story the ride will be easy. 8 forty something's that enjoy cake more than exercise will be riding from Fareham to Lands End over 3 days starting on 28-10-16 and finishing on 30-10-16.
