Story

Hi and thank you for clicking on my JustGiving link!

Every 4 years there is a World Jamboree for Scouts, where over 35,000 scouts come from over 200 countries and take part in this 12 day event. From July 2019 the 24th event is being hosted in West Virginia at the Summit Bechtel Reserve - a 14,000 acre site roughly the size of York.

Jamboree’s are a chance to bring together people young and older, promote mutual understanding and help them develop leadership and life skills while experiencing amazing activities The theme of this event is “Unlock a New World” - To deliver this there will be up to 9000 members of an International Service team (~750 from the UK), of which I will be one of. We have also been supporting the many scouts which are visiting from the UK.

I'll be helping on one of the stages with sound and lighting, in the World Point Showcase area - this is a central area where the will be lots of international activities going on - Cultural Dance, Music and much more. Exactly what will be going on will become much clearer when we all get there, but there are 570 15 minute segments to put together.

As a volunteer there is a cost of £3000 for the trip to include travel, food and a shared tent! - If anyone can help out with a donation of any size, it would be much appreciated! I've partially paid for and then fund raised the first £2400 including a donation from my local scout group.
