I was born with a rare genetic condition called Marfan Syndrome. This in incurable and has caused me great pain for the whole of my life. It causes all of my body joints to dislocate and has caused a double curve of my spine. One is a curve of a letter S and the other is like a letter C. These curves twist my spine all the time and I live in constant pain.

Up until February 2016 I viewed life as an adventure and did not allow this condition - Marfan Syndrome - to affect how I lived my life. Unfortunately this all stopped suddenly when I had a stroke which took me by complete surprise. Over the 6 weeks following this initial stroke I suffered 3 more. These affected my speech and I was unable to move my legs. After 10 weeks of intense therapy my speech returned but movement in my legs has not. In July of this year I had a further 2 mini strokes and a fall which have set back my recovery even further. I now have no feeling in my legs.

I have been advised that I need an All Terrain Power chair to enable me to move around in the community without impediment. I live in a hilly area and the current manual chair I use is not fit for purpose. My arms and shoulders cause me great pain when using this chair.

I am unable to afford the power chair I need as I live on basic disability benefits. I am desperate to get my independence back and putting my situation on this website, asking for help, is difficult for me, but I see this as the only option I have to get me life back.
