Story

Over Easter I will be holding a fundraising evening then completing an ultra marathon in support of Kernos and Gainsborough’s House — two organisations deeply rooted in wellbeing, creativity, and enrichment, based in Suffolk. I will be joined on the adventure with John Beall, David Aarons and Chloe Morruzi.

For over 22 years, The Kernos Centre and our team of professional counsellors have supported thousands of people across South Suffolk and North Essex, helping individuals and families navigate emotional distress, anxiety, trauma, and other mental health challenges. Our work is grounded in compassion, practical support, and close partnership with the local community. Importantly, Kernos never turns people away due to financial hardship. Every penny that Kernos needs to operate needs to be generated by Kernos. We receive no funding.

Gainsborough’s House is a nationally significant cultural asset and a cherished local landmark - the Grade I-listed birthplace of one of Britain’s greatest artists, Thomas Gainsborough. Today, it combines his historic home with modern galleries and visitor facilities, welcoming over 50,000 visitors each year and standing as one of Suffolk’s leading regional art venues. Its expanding exhibitions, workshops, and community programmes continue to enrich lives and strengthen cultural engagement across the area.

We believe that intentional partnerships between mental health services and the arts are vital. Creative engagement, whether through visual art, workshops, writing, or simply spending time in inspiring artistic spaces supports emotional expression, reduces anxiety, builds resilience, and fosters meaningful connection.

By supporting, you will be directly contributing to essential mental health and wellbeing services, while also demonstrating your commitment to creative culture and community resilience across Suffolk and Essex.

A huge thank you for your support.

Regards,

David
