Story

This story starts in England. It is 2008, and my sister Joanne, and her husband Ian, have been married for 2 years. Ian, an only child, has a dream...to emigrate to Western Australia. Joanne is reluctant, but eventually agrees.

The move starts well, they love life in Australia. Ian’s career in accounting progresses fast, and he is soon moving up the ladder. Fast forward a few years, and there are now 2 beautiful girls on the scene! Lucy, 4, and Lily, 1. Joanne had a traumatic birth with Lucy, which she is still recovering from, and due to pressures at home drops down to part time to help look after the girls. Ian, meanwhile, has made it to CFO at a top Western Australian firm.

Unfortunately it is not all happy families. Joanne didn’t really settle in Perth, as she missed her family back in England, and her career stalled due to the breaks between child birth and part time. Her and Ian began to drift apart. At this point, I’m sure the story is familiar, but this one ends a bit differently.

Ian started to become distant, passive aggressive and never present. Eventually, the truth came out after Joanne confronted Ian. He was having an affair with another married woman, who has her own 3 year old child. Bad enough? Unfortunately not.

Ian is the breadwinner, has a successful career, and has now decided to leave his wife and 2 daughters behind. He has seemingly planned this move for a while, and Joanne is left in a country that she doesn’t feel settled in, with a stalled career, a lack of her own income, and 2 very young children to look after. Ian is threatening to leave Joanne with very little, and has already mentioned several times how he is using his high income to pay for the services of a top lawyer.

Well we think Joanne should have a top lawyer too, to fight for what is right for her and her children. So please, whatever you can give to support Joanne, and help her fight against her cheating husband, Ian Edwards
