Story
Welcome to my Crowdfunding Page for Hartlepool Wadokai Karate Club.
The Club is a non Profit Organisation and is registered as a Community Amateur Sports Club CASC...
The club has Members from Aged 3-7 years old (in its fantastic Little Ninja's section) up to adults...
The club is basically self sufficient and does lots of great work itself to raise money for new equipment, to host competitions and to send students to competitions (in Recent times students have gone to National, European and World competitions.)
As I'm doing the Great North run this year - something managed to get myself into after a rather heavy drinking session in January - I had an Idea. This only came to me in the last fortnight btw - to maybe raise some money whilst I drag myself round a Half Marathon.
My Son is a member of the club and has benefited greatly from going there not only because he thinks its fun, but also on a concentration level... With the recent Olympics in Rio and Karate is going to be an event in Tokyo 2020 - I thought why not try to help the club a bit... You never know in a few years we may be cheering on one of their students in the games...
Anyway please give what you can, all donations will be gratefully received by Sensei's Lynne, Carl, Amy and Michael...
For my part well those who know me will know when I got in I thought what have I done!!!
I have trained for this and have basically went from being able to run to the end of my street (honestly) to doing 5k in about 3 weeks... Since then I've managed to train myself up to doing 10 Miles (after about 40 runs) so not far off my target... I'm hoping to get round in about 2:15:00 - not bad for a fat lad. Hope I wont slow my twin brother, who is fit, down too much...
Thanks for all your support. If you watch it I'll be in a Spongebob running vest!!!

8 years agoWell Folks I DID IT!!!!! Time was not what I was hoping for - 2 hours 24 Minutes 45 Seconds... Had a bit of a shin injury from my last training run and a bit of a cold so I can't complain!!! Once again a big THANKYOU to all who've donated, either by the page, or the sponsor forms at Dojo or with me!!! You can still post a donation, the page will be live for at least another 2 weeks so please if you can spare a few quid then that would be great...

8 years agoGuys, Big THANK YOU to everyone who's supported me... Just Giving Page is now up to £135 and with old Fashioned donations we are now past my original target of £200!!! Thanks to the generosity so far I've decided to double my target - the page will still be active for a couple of weeks after the run so you have time... Please support this cause if you can, I know its not you're normal charity sponsorship but this club are a non Profit organisation and do a lot to keep kids active which sadly is a dying trend these days... Cheers Dave
