This is the story, so far, of Summer a poor little pod that found herself in the pound at Gran Canaria. Her photo was put on facebook for a lovely new home, and lo and behold one was found, but instead of Summer being cared for and treated when she was released she found herself at the hands of a woman who neglected her and put her behind more bars until the time came when she could be shoved into a tiny crate for her onward journey to that lovely new home.
After many hours of travelling she came to rest in Spain, but oh no she wasn't stopping there. Instead she was then shoved into the back of a van and driven to UK, illegally, as no TRACES paperwork was carried out. Am I that awful she thought that I must go under the radar, nobody wants me really.
Well her new mum wanted her. She was shocked to see poor little Summer who was filthy and smelly upon her arrival. A bath was in order and hundreds of dead fleas (and live ones) were discovered. I thought I would feel better after that she said, but no she was still as itchy. Her leg was painful, she couldn't put it down or walk on it. Her teeth were painful. Still she was now warm and had food and water. The lady was kind.
A trip to the vets found she had scabies, so she had medication, but no x-rays or any other medical notes were provided for her, the rescue didn't want to know. The poor lady that adopted her just could not dig into her pockets and magic hundreds if not thousands of pounds to get her back to health. Her leg still hurt, but still she had this lady who fed her and kept her warm and as comfortable as she could, so she stuck by her. No-one was going to get in the way not even this lady's daughter, so poor little confused Summer growled and snarled at her, then started lunging bearing her teeth. The girl was frightened so did not go near her mum, good thought Summer I have her all to myself now.
