Story
Hi everyone,
I’m writing this on behalf of my dad, who would never normally ask for help, but I know he really need this support right now.
Recently, his car was vandalised ; it has scratches all over it and even obscene letters scratched into the bonnet. The cheapest repair quote he’s been given is £1,750, which is far more than he can manage. Even his insurance he would lose all of his no-claims discount that he has successfully built up over (20 years) without ever making a claim ! and still has to pay almost £1000 excess, either way needs the help and support.
This has been especially hard because my dad works in children’s homes, supporting vulnerable young people who have already been through so much. At the moment he can’t even use his car for business insurance, as it would be unfair and embarrassing to transport those young people in a vehicle with offensive words scratched into it.
My dad has always been the kind of person who helps others, both in his work and his personal life, and he really doesn’t deserve this. Getting his car repaired is so important for him to be able to keep doing his job and continue supporting the children who rely on him.
He does have a police log number for the incident, and he’s doing everything he can to put things right. If any car repair or body shop professionals can help, that would be amazing. He will also be sharing his story with the Lancashire Evening Telegraph and Burnley Express to raise awareness and thank anyone who supports him.
He feels embarrassed that it has come to this, but right now he has no other option. Any donation, no matter how small, would make a huge difference to him. Even if you can’t donate, please consider sharing this page.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my dad’s story.
