WE DID IT!!!
It was tough but we did it and proud of all tbe boys! Well done lads!!
We (affectionately known as the Deans Chippy Mob) are a group of friends, all local, all 30 somethings with little experience but a lot of enthusiasm.
We have been trying to keep fit as a group throughout the lockdown period by running and cycling etc, but we also wanted to set a reasonably hard challenge but achievable for our levels of fitness. Something that would both motivate us as a group but also help raise funds for charities that mean a lot to the group.
What - The Ben Lawers 7 (climbing the seven peaks in one day).
Where - Perthshire Scotland.
Who - Adam, Gordon, Duncan, Ross, Scott, Andy, Kenny and Cameron.
Why - To raise funds for two charities who champion causes close to our hearts.
We will be splitting any funds we raise from this challenge to both:
Kirsty Maxwell Charity, which was set up to aide both the family of Kirsty who died abroad in suspicious circumstances in 2017 and are still fighting for justice, but also to help other families who are going through a similar situation to them and are in desperate need of help. Kirsty was a big part of our lives and we are looking to help both the family who are still pushing for answers and other families experiencing something similar.
Macmillan Cancer UK. Like the above, all the group have been affected by cancer in different ways and at different points in our lives, but more recently it has been much much closer to home with a bigger impact on our close group of friends (With one of the groups dad's being diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2019). We want to contribute to help both the families suffering from this horrible disease but also to help with early diagnosis, research and hopefully one day finding a cure.
These are tough and uncertain times for us all and none more than charities and local groups trying to make a difference. So here we are, setting off to the great outdoors, hopefully raising some money whilst spending some quality time together. We appreciate any donations large or small to the group, our challenge and the charities we are supporting, Thanks all.
