Story
This year I am running the Lincoln 10k with my colleagues from DCR Newark, teachers and the principal from the Parkgate Academy in Ollerton (my sons former primary school) in memory of my son, Jaydan Wileman who sadly passed away last year aged 8 years old, all money raised will be going to ward 25 (children and adolescent) Kingsmill hospital to hopefully be able to buy a high-flow nasal cannula machine.
Read Jaydan’s story to know more: -
Jaydan was 1st admitted to Kingsmill hospital, Sutton in Ashfield at 4 months old, then he had about 15 more admissions over the next 5 years and was diagnosed with atopic asthma, then in May 2016 he was diagnosed with brittle asthma.
Brittle asthma is a rare form of severe asthma. The term “brittle” means difficult to control, it can suddenly develop into a life-threatening attack.
In October 2018 Jaydan was the first child at Kingsmill hospital to be placed onto the high-flow nasal cannula machine, which is an oxygen supply system capable of delivering up to 100% humidified and heated oxygen at a flow rate of up to 60 litres a minute.
On the 30th June 2019 Jaydan had a life-threatening asthma attack, which within 15 minutes led to a fatal cardiac arrest and he sadly passed away.
The severity of his condition meant that he spent a lot of his short life in hospital on ward 25 (children’s and adolescent) and high dependency, in the last 6 months he was on high dependency on the high flow nasal cannula machine nearly every week.
The team of doctors and nurses have always been a massive part of Jaydan’s life. The compassion and support they have shown us will never be forgotten. We would love to reach our goal so we can give a special gift to them of another high-flow nasal cannula machine to help another child like Jaydan and as he always called it “it was his machine” as without that machine Jaydan would have probably been intubated and ventilated nearly every week in the last 6 months.
Despite all of Jaydan’s health issues, no matter what was thrown at him he was always so happy and smiling, he loved school, maths and reading! He was a very gifted boy who touched the hearts of everyone he met, he will be forever missed and loved
Please please please donate no matter how small, if you can’t donate please can you share.
Thank you
