Story
On the 6th June 2019 Arborfield, Barkham & District will be remembering those who scarificed and paid the ultimate price for our freedom in the D-Day landings of 1944. The assault on the beaches of Normandy was the most significant victory of the Western Allies during the Second World War. 75 years ago, on this day saw approximately 156,000 Allied troops break through into the French interior and begin a headlong advance in the war effort, paving the way for over 326,000 troops to land securely
We are planning "Rockin to Remember" on the Saturday 8th June 2019
D-Day 75th Fete and Live Music afternoon and although we have several things planned we are currently unable to fund the marquees and stage to complete the event and make it work. Without people's generosity the event might have to be scaled down or possibly even cancelled due to lack of funds.
"I MUST STRESS THAT THIS FUND RAISER IS NOT DIRECTLY for the Poppy Appeal/British Legion".
"This Crowdfunding is to raise funds to enable the event to take place" and to allow us to keep the entrance costs down.
Whilst all the performers are giving their time free of charge and stall holders are paying pitch fees we still need to fund the large equipment.
Any funds raised will be put towards the equipment needed any funds over the amount we need together with all profits from the event will be donated to the Poppy Appeal.
We really want to make this event a success for all the people attending, so we can all remember this poignant day in History each year.
