Story

At the end of last year, just months after losing my nan to Cancer, my mum was diagnosed with Lung Cancer which resulted in a Pnemonectomy operation to remove her entire lung.

The operation went well and although now very breathless at times, and her scar causing her trouble, she was well and so continued with Chemotherapy as advised.

After a couple of sessions of being on a IV Agressive Chemo treatment for 8.5 hours a day, chemo was halted. They finally wanted to discuss scan results from March ... only a fortnight ago!

Before and After the operation A CT scan was conducted to check progress further to the op, the 'after' scan revealed the lung cancer had mastastised to her Liver. Now classed as stage 4, secondary lung cancer, and for which there is no cure.

Chemo was stopped because this is a curative treatment. Which now, wont help.

At last consultant meeting, my brave mum asked how long... and was told a number of months.

Unfortunately, an operation to remove is out of the question. It is not NHS policy to remove lung cancer from the liver!!!

All hopes were clinging to the news that mum may be a match for biological treatment; a genetic match was needed though so slim odds. The first 2 were negative but thankfully, the 3rd was a match for a type of immunotherapy palliative treatment.

This will hopefully work wonders, although there remains no cure. And it might not help her....

In the meantime, we would like mum to enjoy her time to the fullest. She has spoken about wishing to see the Northern Lights and shes never had a spa day! (Raised 4 kids, with grandkids now. Always worked.. and never had a pamper! :-O )

We are keen to get mum out and about to anything and everything we can to enjoy time together as a family and to make special moments for her.

ANY MONEY RAISED WILL NOT BE FOR THE FAMILY TO ACCOMPANY HER - IT WILL SOLELY BE FOR MY MUM'S USE ONLY - Sadly, her savings are now set aside for funeral arrangements when needed. Bless her.

We are hoping that Immunotherapy doesnt have the same after-effects as Chemotherapy did for her; being bed bound for days on end with us daughters checking in on her and taking meals etc. Since the last part of 2017 she has been ill and not able to do a great deal - always waiting for the next treatment, symptoms to fade etc. But for now, she is able to enjoy life so I dont want her to waste a minute of it.

Even if you are unable to donate, if you have any other ideas to make her time special please dont hesitate to let me or the family know! :)

If you are able to donate for her fund, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts xxxx
