    Story

On the 25th of June this year my partner was seriously assaulted in an unprovoked attack (caught on cctv). He was left unconscious and was put in to a medically induced coma. In the weeks that followed we found out that he had 2 fractures to his skull, 1 on the side and 1 at the front. He also had bleeding and bruising to the brain. Every day was a struggle when he woke up, he had memory loss and sometimes forgot who I was and his children. I was heartbroken thinking he would never remember us or the memories we had made together, luckily his memory was slowly returning. Seeing him in hospital in so much pain was horrible, they couldn't give him stronger medication due to the brain injury and the medication he was on made him feel sick, so he wasn't eating! He was seriously depressed and had awful anxiety. After weeks I got to take him home as I was there to care for him 24/7. I didn't realise how hard it would be for him to be around every day life! He didn't want to leave his bed, he didn't want to be alone but didn't want company at the same time, but he was still improving from where things were in the hospital. It was so hard having to explain what was going on to my eldest children and for our youngest (4) was even harder. Obviously we never said exactly what happened! After all that he'd been through he received a letter from his work saying they wasn't renewing his contract! Even though he was supposed to be doing so 2 days after his attack. So that just made things worse!! He's now still dealing with everyday issues and the fact he has no income coming in! At this time of year with bills to pay and Christmas coming up he's sunk deeper into depression! We also had to find new homes for our dogs as we felt we could no longer meet their needs and it was selfish of us to keep them! They really were a huge part of our family and we were all devastated!! I would just love to say to him that there's no need to worry as things will be ok!! I want the happy man back
