Story
We have supported projects in the area of Livingstone, Zambia since 2005 when we met Idris Simifwi whilst on holiday. We began by supporting his family of which he had 3 week old twins. The mother of the twins died not long after of complications she could have had treatment for in this country and he was left alone. Much of the support we have provided he has put back into his community. The latest project in the area of Libuyu is a school which Idris has set up to ensure children in the neighbourhood do not have to walk for hours to get a much needed education. The school is up and running but is at present experiencing problems due to drought.

There is no access to running water and the children cannot stay on the school grounds without adequate drinking water throughout the day. The school would like to dig a bore hole which would cost in the region of £3000. This would provide access to water underground and means children can access education daily. It would also provide much needed water to water crops which at present are dying leaving little or nothing for the neighbourhood families to eat. The problems they are experiencing are in such contrast to schools here where children have access to all the essentials plus more. Having met the family and the children in the area it is a cause close to the hearts of us as a family and the many people who travelled out there with us in the three group trips we have undertaken. The digging of a bore hole would help contribute towards solving the problems they are facing and provide children with an education which is their only way out of poverty.
