I've raised £2500 to TEAM H2 Oh! Swimming The English Channel & raise money for 'Swim Torquay' Plainmoor Community Swimming Pool, we're a Team of 5.

Team H2 OH! Ziggy (AKA Selene) Gerry, Lindsay, Pete & Rachael -
SWAM the Channel a relay across the English Channel to raise money for our nominated charity, 'Swim Torquay', Plainmoor Community Swimming Pool, Torquay.
'Swim Torquay' or Plainmoor Community Swimming Pool as it is also known, was built in the 1970s, it is a Charity run pool with dedicated & friendly Lifeguards & the manager Marcus is passionate about swimming being made available to all. The pool caters for a huge variety of swimmers & learners - from one to one swimming lessons for all ages & abilities, Clubs, Mobility, Baby/Toddlers Groups, Schools, Triathlon Swim Coaching, Lifeguard Training, Swim Parties, Aqua Fit....
Many people learnt to swim here, as a charity pool it constantly needs funding to stay open & continue to offer a safe environment for all to swim & have fun. Swimming is a great form of exercise, being non-weight bearing it is great for those with joint issues, it also uses large groups of muscles, so a brilliant way to stay fit too!
The Channel Swim - 2018
WHEN - 30th of September 2018
HOW FAR - The Channel is 21 miles at its shortest point, however we will swim much further as the current will move us many miles off course as the tide ebbs and flows.
HOW LONG - between 10 to 25 hours! (if not more!)
The Louisa Jane will be escorting us safely across the Channel as there could be at least 200 other vessels as well as up to 600 tankers, marine creatures & debris! We are hoping to Find Nemo, France & ‘put pebbles down our pants!’.
Sea temperatures could be between 12-18 Celsius during the day, dropping lower during the night, once we set off from Dover, we will be non-stop swimming until we reach France, which will mean taking our turn swimming in the inky blue sea during the night – scary! We do not want to find Moby Dick or Jaws!
There were BIG WAVES & tankers, at the start is was pitch black, unfortunately Ziggy was really sick!
Thank you for your generous donations :)
