Story

Zimbabwe Life Project

Support for Mental Health.

The burden of the less privileged and deprived is everyone’s burden.

Zimbabwe Life Project is a team of British and Zimbabwean born clinicians who are travelling to Zimbabwe as volunteers to help enhance the effectiveness of mental health services there.

ZLP is a self-sustaining venture currently steered by the sheer determination of volunteers to effect positive change in the lives of the less privileged. As the project develops, contributions in the form of finance, skills and equipment will be appreciated.

Dee Johnson and Jane Cheeseman are excited to be able to be part of this project joining the first wave of volunteers in September 2018 and would really appreciate any support in helping fund the project.

As Zimbabwe emerges from a tough economic situation, many people have been left in stressful social conditions and compromised mental well-being. There is a need for strengthening the mental health systems and knowledge base for handling the increased magnitude of problems.

How will we use the money?

The volunteers have already paid for their own travel costs, donations received will be used to ship medical equipment to Zimbabwe and help fund costs. The NHS Trust EPUT where many of the clinicians work has fully embraced this project and have offered relevant support.
