Story

Hi Everyone!

We hope you are all well and keeping spirits high during these uncertain times. One thing that is certain is that mothers are the worlds care givers and it is at these moments that mothers will hold their families close by cooking, checking up via text/call or even sharing prayers or words of encouragement. The Nigerian Government however have been forced to ask Nigerian mothers to do something that no mother has the power to do and that is stay at home when they have nothing to feed their children.

The Covid19 lock down in Nigeria has already caused untold hardship for poor Nigerians who are typically used to living day to day through trade. Combined with shortages in the food supply, the lock down has resulted in a significant rise in food prices, destruction of local businesses, and an increase in crime. The people are in dire need of help and hope, with the most at risk being single-parent families in rural parts of the country (such as parts of Oyo and Osun State) where aid is difficult to reach. For these Nigerians it is difficult to travel to places like Lagos or Abuja where more relief is being distributed and by the time help does reach their area, they are at risk of being bullied out of receiving provisions by fellow Nigerians.

To provide support to these mothers and families Deborah, Emmanuel and Esther Abodunrin are taking on a running challenge to raise money and awareness for Nigerian Mothers in need. 100 Single mothers have been identified to be in need with the help of local charity workers in Osun and Oyo State. £22 is enough to feed one of these mothers and their family for 2 - 4 weeks, supporting them to pay for the essentials and remain hopeful. By Completing these challenges they hope to raise £2200 enough to feed the 100 families in need.

What is the Challenge?

Deborah, Emmanuel and Esther Abodunrin Commit to running 22 miles between them every week of May (FYI None of them run and they all hate running...equally)

They will post weekly donations made to the mothers on their social media pages and below on the just-giving page. The running challenge will be tracked using the Strava app with screenshots posted each week on the just giving page.

Once again they all really hate running so please show your support and help them to reach their goal and provide hope to families who are otherwise forgotten.

Thank you for your support!
