Nepal experienced the worst earthquake to hit them in 80 years, on April 25th, 2015, magnitude 7.8. 3 weeks later, on May 12th, a magnitude 7.3 earthquake struck again. Reports estimate nearly 9000 lives lost, with thousands injured and many left homeless across Nepal. My aim is to support people in need, specifically children and families in hard to reach remote villages, where they have lost their homes, and are unable to access basic needs, such as food, shelter, clean water and medicine.
FORD Nepal (Friendship for Rural Development Nepal) works as a bridge for community development. Their mission is to improve quality of life with the rural communities they work with. As well as being motivated to help those in need, my sister and I volunteered with this charity in 2009 on community projects, supporting orphaned children and people in a local village. Following the earthquake, people are in desperate need to access even the most basic needs and need your help through FORD Nepal.
FORD Nepal offers support for ongoing projects through a team of coordinators and local volunteers, as well as a regular stream of international volunteers. The earthquake relief programme has focused on providing food, medicine and rebuilding homes for those affected in small remote villages. The progress of all projects can be followed on: http://www.fordnepal.org and https://www.facebook.com/ford.nepal.7
Money will be spent to buy supplies, such as food, medicine and building materials, and support from local people to transport items to reach the remote villages. Children and families will receive food and medicine, and physical support to rebuild their homes from volunteers as part of their work through the charity. Recent work has involved providing shelter with tents and blankets. The next step is to provide sturdier shelter, such as metal sheets in preparation for the coming winter months.

About the fundraiser
London, United Kingdom
I have volunteered with and been in regular contact with this charity in Nepal since 2009. I can reassure that the charity will use money raised on those in need, and provide regular updates on the ongoing projects they work on to continuously support local communities. Thanks.
