Story

For some time now myself and my good friend Amy have been discussing the possibility of fundraising for a life saving machine to be installed in our village, Lutton. On Friday, I attended a first aid course. At the start of the course I sat there looking at the clock, hoping the day would fly by whilst thinking about the ironing building up at home. To my surprise, Mark the guy leading the training was a laugh, made the day interesting and I learnt a lot! I learnt that if someone was to go into a cardiac arrest, the maximum amount of time the blood can sustain the brain with oxygen is 5 minutes. At first, I thought that's not bad, 5 minutes is quite some time when you sit and watch a clock. Then I remembered one of the many coffee catch ups Amy and I have had discussing our fundraising ideas, we researched how soon an ambulance could reach us in Lutton, the average time is 8 minutes, so in effect the window for survival is closed for residents in Lutton. Whilst my head was going into maths mode, Mark had just turned off the lights and started to play a video clip... I have uploaded the video clip for you to watch. This video and knowledge has stayed in my head and has now made me more determined to fundraise for a life saving defibrillator to be fitted in the village. I cannot do this alone and would be grateful if you could not only donate what you can, but also spread the word far and wide, so not only can Lutton have a defib but other rural villages too!
