As you all know, the Delabole Carnival marquee took a massive hit in the bad weather today. The strong wind and heavy rain was too much for the already battered Carnival tent!

The poles gave way and the roof caved in, causing complete carnage to everything below it. The sound system equipment that we use throughout the week for entertainment has suffered water damage as has the staging area.

We have also lost the contents of all the beer kegs that we had just taken delivery of in time for our Beer Festival. The wind took the stillage right over this morning, breaking the taps off the barrels and causing our lovely beers to flood onto the grass and down through the playing fields! Not exactly how we had anticipated it to flow today!

We are all so very grateful that no one was injured during this, thanks to the quick thinking actions of the volunteers and committee members.

We have had to take the heartbreaking decision to cancel our beloved Carnival and Beer Festival due to the loss of the marquee and the further bad weather that is forecast.

This is a decision that wasn't made lightly after all the work and effort that's gone in to making it happen. But to keep the village and committee safe, it was the right choice.

We as a committee take great pride in hosting a fun filled week for everyone each year thats free of charge to enter. Unfortunately we have now suffered a huge financial loss because of the cancellation. Not only in damages, but also in funds lost due to not welcoming you all to our Carnival Bar!

We have had several people ask if there is a way to donate to the Carnival funds so we have now set this page up. We hope that we may raise some pennies back through kindness and generosity to help us start planning our comeback for 2024! Any donations would be greatly recieved.
