I've raised £80 to buy resources such as; games, arts and crafts, home comforts and memory boxes for patients with Dementia at Llandough Hospital

Hi all,
I am running the Cardiff Half Marathon on Sunday the 11th of October. This is a massive challenge for me as I've never been much of a runner!
It's all in aid of patients living with Dementia at Llandough Hospital.
The money will go towards buying activities, arts and craft materials, home comforts and memory boxes.
As most of you know I used to work on the wards at Llandough hospital. Everyone there does brilliant work and makes the most of what they have, however their resources are very limited. This is why rather than donate to a charity, I have chosen to give the money direct to the wards.
I have seen the difference these items can make. Being in hospital isn't the nicest place to be at anytime, but with Dementia it can be disorientating and scary. It is known that dementia patients can rapidly decline when admitted to hospital. There are many possibilities as to why, but one reason is unfamiliar surroundings and lack of stimulation. Having familiar home comforts and engaging in an activity that is important to you that you enjoy can really help to boost your mood, keep your mind stimulated and give you a sense of identity, giving a better quality of life.
Please donate to this cause. Every penny will go directly to resources for the patients to use. And after working there I can genuinely say that even the smallest of donations will make a big difference!
Thank you for taking the time to read this!
Wish me luck!!
