Story
My dad fell unwell on on the 7th of February after testing positive for covid for roughly 8 days he was in bed really unwell wasn’t eating so we started to get concerned and that’s when I decided to call NHS24, after they done an assessment on him they said his symptoms were manageable at home the next day he suddenly felt worse could hardly breathe was struggling to keep his balance we then called nhs24 again and so this time they had sent out a ambulance patient transport which took him to a place in Maryhill from there he got taken straight into the Queen Elizabeth where he had tests & CT scan which has shown that he had covid pneumonia & swelling in both his lungs from there he was taken to a ward and put on steroids drips and oxygen over the next few days his breathing wasn’t improving to they moved him to the High Dependency Unit where they gave him a new oxygen called ‘hot oxygen’ they were giving him the most amount that was available and unfortunately that wasn’t helping his breathing and his oxygen wasn’t rising which was a concern to them they then called us on Saturday night to say that they were moving him to the Intensive Care Unit and put on a ventilator so that he can have a rest and let his body have a wee break.
We dont know how long my dad will he in hospital for and with him being self employed and obviously being unable to open the garage we have found our selfs to be in a bit if a struggle to pay bills & keep the garage open, i have decided to do this page to help take the financial burden off my mum a bit as this is an extremely difficult time for us all.
Thank you so much.
