Story

I suffer from very severe copd - and have run a website to support and help other sufferers of COPD since 2010. The site can be viewed at www.bitz-and-bobz.co.uk/copd . Titled 'We strive to breathe Easier', it has proved to be a lifeline for very many sufferers from around the world.

Copd is one of the leading causes of death in the UK and America. My aim has been to show how we can help each other deal with our disability while still having a life. And to show others how we can overcome the obstacles we have to endure. As a sufferer that has now had copd for 29 years I have passed through all the stages.

I am disabled with copd, and use oxygen for mobility. I cannot work, and live off a pension. If I cannot raise funds to host 'We strive to breathe easier' I will have no choice but shut down the support site in the middle of January. Can you help?

I would like to ensure 'We strive to breathe easier' is available to support others for at least the next four years. To do this I need to raise £500 to pay for hosting. Can you help me, and the many thousands that visit 'We strive to Breathe easier' yearly.

An estimated 1.2 million people live with copd in the UK alone. Over 13 million people in the USA also suffer from this disabling illness.

I have copd because of a the childhood illness, whooping cough that I had when only a few months old from birth. I have no doubt the smog's in London during the 1950's also did their damage. There are very many reasons why someone can contract copd apart from smoking.

Can you help. Any donation. No matter how small. Will help. I thank you for reading this. And for any support you give.

So many thanks to all you guys for supporting my plea and keeping my copd blog live for a number of years. The total has been reached and I am in awe at your generosity. You have helped many others, many newly diagnosed, to understand their illness, and enabled them to contact me not only directly, but to be directed to other help available. You have helped to give others with copd hope for the future. A special thanks to Dale Patton for his awesome donation that meant we reached the the amount needed.

Very many thanks to those that have supported me with this cause. Three of you have raised 22% of the total I am seeking to keep this support site open for four years. When i started to write during 2010 I did so for therapy. I had passed 'The bump', and so my blog was born. I do much volunteer work as an advisor on copd and how it effects us. Emails via 'We strive to breathe easier' blog are often from very scared new patients, showing me how important this blog is. All help in supporting this is important to me. Thank you. xx
