I suffer from very severe copd - and have run a website to support and help other sufferers of COPD since 2010. The site can be viewed at www.bitz-and-bobz.co.uk/copd . Titled 'We strive to breathe Easier', it has proved to be a lifeline for very many sufferers from around the world.

Copd is one of the leading causes of death in the UK and America. My aim has been to show how we can help each other deal with our disability while still having a life. And to show others how we can overcome the obstacles we have to endure. As a sufferer that has now had copd for 29 years I have passed through all the stages.

I am disabled with copd, and use oxygen for mobility. I cannot work, and live off a pension. If I cannot raise funds to host 'We strive to breathe easier' I will have no choice but shut down the support site in the middle of January. Can you help?

An estimated 1.2 million people live with copd in the UK alone. Over 13 million people in the USA also suffer from this disabling illness.

I have copd because of a the childhood illness, whooping cough that I had when only a few months old from birth. I have no doubt the smog's in London during the 1950's also did their damage. There are very many reasons why someone can contract copd apart from smoking.
