I've raised £5000 to Relocate the memorial to the 7th Armoured Division (The Desert Rats) from RMA Sandhurst to the National Arboretum, Staffordshire.

We need to raise over £10,000 to relocate the memorial to the National Arboretum and pay for its first few years maintenance on site until its support is taken over by the Arboretum. As well as moving the existing memorial, the plan is also to add a memorial for those who have worn the Desert Rat on their arm in more recent years,
The memorial was originally placed in Berlin after the end of WW2 and later moved to Sandhurst for safekeeping where it now stands just inside the main gate. Here it is safe, but alas not open to the general public, so we are raising funds by such things as coffee mornings,, sponsored swims, dog shows, sponsored walks and Dinner/Dances to pay for the move, the restoration of the memorial, its installation at the National Arboretum, where we will also be adding a fitting memorial to the Desert Rats since WW2 to the modern day, to bring everything up to date.
As an Association we hold many events to raise money to assist in telling the story of the Desert Rats and to allow veterans to attend events for free. and now we are expanding our efforts to carry out this important task. We all work towards this for free and need a little help with this goal please?
The initial figure of £5000 will allow us to start the work and then we will hold other events/activities to raise more funds to complete the work
We are the Desert Rats Association supporting Registered No. 1063575 under the Charities Act of 1960 for the 7th Armoured Division Commemorative Fund. Our website is www.desertrats.org.uk/assoc/
